Kesri Aims to be PM as Rao Quits Party Post

NEW DELHI: In a week of swift developments in the Congress, former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao made an unceremonious exit as leader of the Congress Parliamentary Party, December 19, resigning minutes before the 4 pm ultimatum given by the party Chief, Sitaram Kesri. He sent in his resignation only when it became clear, even to him, that the choice was between a voluntary resignation or expulsion.

Ganga Water Treaty and India
India and Bangladesh signed a long-term Ganga Water Treaty the other day and it has been hailed by the ruling parties in both the countries. The opposition, in Bangladesh will, obviously, not welcome any achievement of the new ruling party and its leader. Shaikh Hasina Wajed may be more friendly towards India because of her father, the assassinated leader Shaikh Mujibur Rahman who got an independent country through India’s help.
